MyCiTi is Cape Town’s public bus system. It is very affordable and covers most of the city. The trip from the airport costs R57, and journeys within the city centre around R6 per trip.
You will need to buy a myconnect card to ride on the bus – you can’t buy them onboard, so get one from the airport station, the main Civic Centre Station, or other selected outlets. Visit the MyCiTi website for full details, or the mobisite for on-the-go info. There is a MyCiTi stop on either side of the Grand Daddy Hotel – one on Long Street and one on Loop Street.
Apart from the MyCiTi Bus, check out the City Sightseeing Bus – the big red bus that offers guided tours of Cape Town, and the ability to “hop on, hop off” at various points of interest.
Since you have made the smart decision to stay at the Grand Daddy, you are a one-minute walk away from the City Sightseeing office in Long Street. From there, you can jump on an open-top bus and enjoy any of their tours, from exploring downtown Cape Town to venturing along the beautiful peninsula.
We recommend getting their two-day pass (buy it online). Go explore!
