Lekker Larry before the big moment

The Daddy’s Airstream Rooftop Trailer Park was abuzz yesterday as it served as the venue for the hotly anticipated proposal for Heart104.9FM’s 2 Guys and a Wedding campaign. Grand Daddy General Manager Sergio “Daddy” Dreyer even got some radio airtime!

Yesterday, Sergio said: “In January this year, Heart104.9FM decided to play match maker. They received over 100 entries from hopeful grooms, and today was the grand finale.

“The final four contestants were each booked into a trailer and received a complimentary champagne breakfast. The proposal took place in the AfroFunk trailer.

The grooms had never met before yesterday – instead, they were communicating on air or via SMS, and they used no real names. Contestants were merely known as Flirty Frank, Hastige Hendrik, Chilled Chad and Juicy James as they vied for Lekker Larry’s hand in marriage.

According to Heart104.9FM’s Facebook fan page, “Larry picked up his guitar, walked into the trailer and serenaded his fiancé to be … the final verse of the song being 'will you marry me?' …

"And screams of 'Yes, yes. It’s a yes' came from the very excited, teary eyed Hastige Hendrik.”

The bacherlor parties are happening this Saturday, March 19, and the nuptials will take place on March 26. The grooms won a wedding, honeymoon and 12 months’ post-wedding accommodation. Not bad!
